Jones Energy pours its drilling efforts into the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma. One of the most active oil and gas players in the western Anadarko Basin, the company boasts more than 750 producing wells, about half of which are in operation. It produces about 30.9 million cu. ft. of natural gas per day and more than 1,200 barrels of crude oil per day. Its primary focus is on horizontal drilling in the Cleveland and Granite wash plays. In terms of land, Jones Energy controls more than 1 million gross acres, about half of which may be developed for future exploration and production. With family roots in the petroleum industry since the 1920s, the independent company was founded by CEO Jonny Jones in 1988.
