PTT Global Chemical (formerly PTT Chemical) is the leading producer of petrochemicals in Asia. It has an olefins and aromatics production capacity of 8.2 million tons per year and petroleum production capacity of 280,000 barrels per day. PTT Global Chemical also produces chemicals used to make adhesives, paint, rubber, and solvents and is Thailand's largest producer of olefins. PTT Chemical was formed in 2005 when oil and gas company PTT acquired National Petrochemical Public Co. Ltd. and combined it with its Thai Olefins unit. In 2011 PTT Chemical merged with PTT Aromatics and Refining to form integrated petrochemical and refining company PTT Global Chemical.
