Description Duncan Energy Partners (DEP) went deep and wide to make its money. The midstream operator, a former spinoff from Enterprise Products Partners, found, stored, and transported natural gas and other petrochemicals. Its operations included Mont Belvieu Caverns (with a 100-million-barrel capacity), the 1,000-mile-long Acadian Gas pipeline in Louisiana, propylene pipelines between Texas and Louisiana, and a 297-mile-long intrastate natural gas liquids (NGLs) pipeline. It owned stakes in 9,430 miles of natural gas pipelines and more than 1,480 miles of NGL pipelines. Reconsolidating to boost its market share, in 2011 Enterprise Products Partners bought the 40% of DEP it did not own for $2.4 billion.
