Out in the West Texas town of San Angelo, more than 6,000 students attend Angelo State University (ASU). The school offers approximately 45 undergraduate programs of study at its College of Liberal and Fine Arts, College of Education, College of Business, and College of Sciences. ASU also has a School of Graduate Studies that offers nearly 30 master's degree programs. It also offers one doctorate program. With about 255 faculty members, its student-teacher ratio is 19:1. The university was founded in 1928 as San Angelo Junior College; it assumed its current name in 1965. ASU is part of the Texas Tech University System.
