Mission RNIB is the leading sight loss charity in the UK and is driving the creation of a world where there are no barriers for people with sight loss.
We value lived experience of sight loss, and we have made changing public perceptions and behaviours a key priority.
We are asking people to see sight loss differently, reversing inaccurate perceptions and changing public behaviours so everyone expects equal participation from people with sight loss.
We also want a fully accessible society. Not only will this benefit the blind and partially sighted people, but it will benefit everyone. We believe standards for the design of mainstream environments and solutions should be accessible by default.
We want to drive change so that the public, including decision-makers across society, understand the realities of sight loss and alter their behaviours so they automatically include blind and partially sighted people.
Description RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) was founded on October 16, 1868, and was known as the British and Foreign Society for Improving the Embossed Literature of the Blind. In 2008, when the UK Vision Strategy came out, we changed our name to the Royal National Institute of Blind People, or RNIB.
Today, we are the UK's leading sight loss charity. We offer practical and emotional support to blind and partially sighted people, their families, and caregivers. We raise awareness about blind and partially sighted people's experiences and advocate for change to make our society more accessible to all. Our vision is for a world where blind and partially sighted people can participate equitably.
As an inclusive employer, we embrace difference; our aim is to understand and respond to the diversity of experiences of blind and partially sighted people from all communities and backgrounds. We value diversity, and we know we are stronger when our work reflects a plurality of voices.
RNIB prides itself on being a great place to work. We aim to be a sector leader in terms of people management and development. Working for us means working for one of the UK’s biggest charities, supporting almost two million people living with sight loss in the UK. We are at an exciting point in RNIB’s journey and are looking for talented people who share our values. Whether you are at the start of your career or have years of work experience, we can help you use your strengths, enthusiasm, and skills to their maximum potential.
