Its beer brands include Lionshead, Stegmaier, and Pocono; under the Old Philadelphia name, the company markets a variety of cream sodas and other soft drinks. Its products are distributed in about a dozen states, mostly in the Eastern US. In addition to its flagship brands, Lion Brewery produces beer for other brewers under contract. The Pennsylvania brewery was founded in 1905 as The Luzerne County Brewing Company. Partners Cliff Risell and Ron Hammond acquired control of Lion Brewery in 2007 with backing from Blue Point Capital Partners and the private equity arm of BB&T Corporation.
