NIWC Atlantic recently demonstrated a new augmented reality-based system created to prevent service members from accidentally revealing their locations via electronic emissions. Our work in Land System Integration ensures the design, engineering and full-scale integration of C4ISR capabilities into tactical military vehicle platforms. Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Shrader, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command, visited NIWC Atlantic last week. He met with employees and our industry partners, toured vehicle integration facilities and spoke at the leadership council meeting. Maj. Gen. Shrader also thanked the Expeditionary Warfare Department for its behind-the-scenes work delivering information warfare solutions to the warfighter. “The life expectancy of a Marine machine gunner in some campaigns in the Pacific during World War II was two minutes,” he told the workforce at the Land Systems Integration facility. “The work that you do here on this equipment … I’ll tell you right now, nine times out of 10, these vehicles save Marine lives. Marines not only depend on the armor, but they also depend on the command and control capabilities that you all provide. I just want to thank you for that.
