Since 2005, F I R S T S T E P S for Kids, Inc. has specialized in improving the lives of children diagnosed with Autism and related behavioral and development diagnoses by using a treatment model called Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is so well-documented and effective that the US Surgeon General (1999), the American Academy of Pediatrics (2007), the National Autism Center (2009), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (2010) have all recommended its use and consider it “best practice” for teaching new skills and reducing behavioral challenges in this population.
At FirstSteps, our clinical team, including our Therapeutic Instructors, are extensively trained to provide state-of-the-art care that is behavior analytic, individualized, and effective, while always cherishing the wonderfully unique personalities of our clients. We strive to help our kids and families with what matters most to them, be it communication, adaptive/self-care, play, social, and/or academic skills, with the intent and determination for our little ones to use their new skills to enjoy and independently participate in their families, homes, schools, and communities.
As a team, we work to build the foundation upon which our clients’ hopes and dreams may be realized. We want what they want; for our young clients to live as independently as possible as adults, to have activities that bring them joy throughout their lives, to know how to self-advocate and stay safe in their communities…and to thrive.
