Goettl was founded by brothers Adam and Gust Goettl in 1939. Adam Goettl was a businessman and entrepreneur, and Gust was a businessman and innovator known for making improvements to existing HVAC designs.
The brothers pioneered sheet metal manufacturing and had more than 100 patents on their technology. Their work has helped make the Goettl brand a household name and the best the market has to offer.
The Goettl brothers moved to Phoenix in 1939. They found the heat oppressive and wanted to do something to make Phoenix a more comfortable place to live, so Goettl Air Conditioning was born on February 14, 1939. The Goettl brothers revolutionized cooled air technology and made Arizona a more sought-after state to live in.
During WWII, Gust and Adam Goettl turned their talents to manufacturing operations to support the war effort.
After the war, Phoenix continued to grow and there became even more need to create safe retreats from the burning sun and to keep houses and offices cool. The Goettl brothers would drive around Phoenix with air conditioning units attached to trucks, cooling down grateful local residents. This genius piece of marketing sealed the Goettl brothers’ fate; they quickly became a popular household name.
Current CEO Ken Goodrich’s own childhood memories are strongly tied to Goettl. He remembers holding his father’s flashlight while he completed jobs on air conditioning units, and recalls his admiration for the longevity and quality of Goettl products. In 2013, Goodrich took the opportunity to buy Goettl Air Conditioning and has since expanded the company to locations including Tucson, Austin, San Antonio, Las Vegas, and across Southern California, with plans to continue growing nationally.
