Description Nu Horizons Electronics sees new electronic components on the horizon. The company distributes active components (microprocessors, memory chips, diodes, transistors) from manufacturers such as Atmel, Marvell, Micron, Renesas, and Vitesse. It also sells system-level products such as servers, storage, and software from the likes of IBM, Oracle, and Alcatel-Lucent. Subsidiary NIC Components is the exclusive North American distributor of passive components (capacitors and resistors) made by Japan's Nippon Industries. More than half of sales are to customers in North America. Rival Arrow Electronics bought Nu Horizons for about $130 million in cash in early 2011.
