    Pros

Good work life balance and benefits as well as paid holidays. Every department and neighborhood has a different environment so it is difficult to paint a broad picture, however there are a lot of dedicated employees who can be tremendously fun to work with. Employees really care about the mission of the company and it is possible to see the results of your own efforts and the impact you have on the lives of the clients you work with.

    Cons

Low wages and limited resources. There is a culture of entrenched bureaucracy which leads to a lack of transparency between departments. There is an overwhelming resistance to change.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to streamlining processes and getting rid of deadwood. Reward the employees who do more than just show up.

    Pros

Meaningful work and great impact on the communities that are being served.

    Cons

ABCD's mission is lost in its bureaucracy. Forget about being promoted unless you have a close relationship with leaders of this agency. Promotions aren't given based on merits, but rather who is a "good look" or who have a relationship with who they need to have a relationship with. Many managers are not qualified and lack the skills to really lead the neighborhood sites.

    Advice to Management

It's important to value the employee's input. Asking for recommendations and observation is only helpful if taken into consideration.

    Pros

Hours are flexible...Holidays off.. Higher up's remember people by name and it feels like one big loving family.. You are truly assisting people inside deprived neighborhoods.. Room for advancement both professional and educational.. Multiple sites in the greater Boston area..

    Cons

One of the teachers were extremely iffy. I questioned on several occasions if she truly cared for her job or the children even ( This actually started to emotionally affect me) I really hope work performance is taken into consideration for advancement within the organization, keeping employment and pay. HR and finance department are Great! This was great giving the fact that my boss was literally out of the loop.

    Advice to Management

Always hold high expectations from your employees
