I have been working at Adcetera full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The commission structure is better than any other sales team I have worked for. The company is very reputable so it is easy to keep my sales pipeline filled with constant new business coming to me through my social networks and from theirs. The Houston market typically fluctuates based on the oil and gas at my previous jobs and its nice to be working with a company that has such diverse clients and capabilities. Easy...

    Cons

I wish they had 401k over SEP, ridged on being at the morning meeting and participating in company events (but to be honest, most of the events are fun because the people are great and a lot of it is for charity), unfairness to certain individuals on a case by case basis. The company is family owned and the owners treat certain people who have been their the longest with more leniency.

    Advice to Management

Invest in some management consulting. Times are changing in the industry and its obvious we need to updates the benefits and polices to reflect that we are changing with the times. Things like revising the PTO structure, overtime pay and creating programs and tools that engage all employees to get the work done more efficiently. Working towards a more mobile workforce with flextime is my best advice for attracting new,...

I worked at Adcetera full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Office location is decent, despite the traffic but there's some great restaurants! If you love the color lime green then this office is for you. They pay 100% of your health insurance.

    Cons

Everything about this company was wrong from day one. You are expected to work overtime without pay (they say it's in a yearly salary but that's just dependent on how well your managers like you at the end of the year) and if you don't stay late everyday then you are looked down upon. The work is there but its not the most interesting. There's honestly quite a few other agencies in town that I would advise anyone...

    Advice to Management

Seriously consider restructuring your departments. The creative team is so exhausted and the ADs can't communicate well with them. Who's ever heard of 4 creative directors at an agency with less than 100 employees?

I have been working at Adcetera full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Both locations are great – Midtown Houston & The Woodlands. There are plenty of great people here, and you'll probably make some good friends. Plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance around the office. The health insurance isn't horrible, and it's 100% covered by the company. There are a few events held throughout the year that are fun (until people start getting wasted). You'll get the opportunity...

    Cons

Get ready to fight for position! Those that have been there for years aren't the most welcoming of newcomers – you'll have to prove yourself worthy before you can be trusted to handle anything more than busywork. The workflow is a nightmare – everything is handled via 70+ emails (not exaggerating) per day, PDFs, and mountains of paper printouts. With no real project management system, you'll have several projects fall...

    Advice to Management

Offer opportunities to new people, and let them try to bring new ideas to the table. Some people here are dying to do more, but are not allowed to try. And please separate vacation and sick days - these should not be grouped together in the same bucket. Way too many people come to work sick because they don't want to waste their vacation days.

I worked at Adcetera full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It’s a creative environment. Generally good people. Compensation is fair.

    Cons

Leadership is unprofessional. The environment can get very clicky and has a high school like atmosphere. The office space was entirely way to open, it was distracting and very noisy. Which made it hard to conduct business on the phone. They have a lot of “office events and party’s” that put a lot of pressure on your team and can get distracting from actual work. Additionally they did not hire me on the salary they offered...

I worked at Adcetera full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I learned a lot at Adcetera. The team is smart and ambitious. They do a lot of different things (print, motion, interactive and more) very quickly. The work is not always easy but it is challenging and I really like that. My time there was never boring and I really enjoyed the people. I liked the cool building and the holiday fun and games. I always felt like a part of the team.

    Cons

They are seeing a lot of changes in the industry and in the types of clients they want to work with. While I was there they actually walked away from two clients because the work wasn't a good fit for the company. They share during the annual State of the Agency where the company is going and what we were focused on. I liked that. The advertising world is changing and these guys see the challenges and they are working...

Keep moving towards the future. bring in some younger people into management. And be more flexible with telecommuting and time away from the office. I loved my time at Adcetera and hated to leave when we left Houston.

I have been working at Adcetera

    Pros

Adcetera is a challenging but rewarding place to work. We have diverse clients, even more diverse creative challenges and we demand the best from ourselves. It’s not just a job but a place where people can excel in what what they do. I’m also proud of the collaborative support that happens between team members and departments. We have the staff, resources, and abilities to create some truly next level stuff. As an...

    Cons

As a client servicing agency, late nights and weekends can happen - but this is not the norm. In contrast to other places I've worked, we now have systems to assess, respond to, and control this as best possible to respect our teams and individuals. I’d be remiss to say this place is perfect - We are constantly revisiting, revising, optimizing and finding ways to evolve and grow people, process, and place. That said...

      Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

      I worked at Adcetera full-time

      Pros

I've worked at Adcetera for over a decade and loved my time here. Management is great and so was the client work that we did. The owners and management team are all personable and caring. They treat you as if you are a part of their own family, which is a great feeling to have from the start. For being a smaller agency, there is so much great talent here, and the services offered are impressive. In house, they offer...

      Cons

The environment can be competitive and stressful at times; but if you are up for the challenge, you'll find that you will be pushed for the better and that you will have many growth opportunities at Adcetera.

      Advice to Management

Continue to foster a collaborative environment both in support of the client work, as well as for the employees. It has been just awesome to see the growth and transitions that has come from this. Also, consider opening a second office to help with Adcetera's growth.

      I worked at Adcetera full-time

      Pros

There are not any pros to mention.

      Cons

It's been over two years since I worked at Adcetera. I've been with one another agency since I left, two years ago. One with a healthy and positive environment to work in. I now realized how toxic and terrible Adcetera was. The owners treat you like slaves. Upfront, they pretend to be something they're not. They promise you things that don't happen and hover over you like you don't deserve a life or recognition....

      I worked at Adcetera full-time

      Pros

Salary can be negotiated (but not high enough), typical benefits, 2-3 weeks time off, company parties

      Cons

Account executives have no clue how to manage projects, working late is the norm and not the exception, extremely overprotective owners, people are feared more than excited to work at Adcetera, they value appearance and presentation over quality of work, etc. There's just simply too much to list without sounding like a disgruntled ex-employee.

      Advice to Management

The likelihood of them changing after 30 years of the way they have conducted work is extremely unlikely. What they SHOULD do is listen to their employees and actually create a workflow that makes the company AND the clients happy. They cater to profit over the quality of life of their employees :(
