The HR function at this company is purely administrative. You have one and half full time HR employees to cover multiple racecourses and 100s of members of staff. It's a joke! I have never worked with such poorly trained and disengaged department heads. Senior management do not have the first understanding of the operations they oversee and manage solely from P&L spreadsheets. Staff turnover is ridiculous and the only people that stay long term are useless and uninterested.

No worthwhile career development unless you want to abide by the ARC guide to management (only care about making money for the company and telling your staff to deal with it). No pay for overtime, compensated as TOIL, although you don't get back the hours you work. (in the last 7 months at the company I was uncompensated for 70 hours overtime that was worked during approved days for overtime) Massively underpaying for similar jobs. HR/Senior management don't take into consideration salaries in the South need to be higher due to cost of living. No support from management both at Racecourse and Board Level.
