Not so best..... point

Pros

Like most places, some of the staff are amazing. They love their students and want to do the best they can for them. Students are at-risk youth with many different mental and academic issues that need support but are still amazing kiddos, even on their worst days. The work day is shorter than you would expect. No weekends and you get many holidays off. (Like a normal school)

Cons

The company has a history of inconsistency with situations of staff and discipline. Leadership is so disconnected from what is happening in the schools that they think the really little pay will keep quality individuals. Leadership is so disconnected that they maintain policies that put staff and students in dangerous positions and situations without care. Staff are expected to get the crap beat out of them and are limited in what they can do to protect themselves. Their HR and training programs are business focused and completely missing the understanding of a school building or school year for staff. Unrealistic expectations for staff. Limited training and experience for positions. Intervention specialists work with a classroom of 6-10 students at a time for the entire year. They are expected to do everything a general education teacher would do, plus an intervention specialist but with much less pay than a traditional school.

Low Value for Staff

Pros

Staff collaboration is great, can be a very family-like environment. Some leadership within the educational buildings do their best to support staff, but a lot of decisions are out of their hands. The students are incredible and the only reason most stay.

Cons

For an organization that focuses on mental and behavioral health, they have absolutely zero value for staff mental health. The HR department is extremely unhelpful regarding any situations that HR should be able to assist with (insurance, FMLA, overall agency questions). The staff are stretched incredibly thin. If you are a "top" employee, you will have more work piled onto your plate while some staff do absolutely nothing majority of their days, basically a warm body taking space. While staff collaboration can be positive, you have to be a part of the clique or you are essentially pushed out, and once one person doesn't like working with you, the entire building will pretty much turn against you. Low pay, but expected for a non-profit, however, they also require additional work for all roles that most schools do not have staff complete.

Pros

Nothing! Don’t come here if you have good health! They will over stress you and under pay you! Put extra work on you with no pay! They will set you up to get fired!

Cons

They are liars! They trick you to get in the door! They don’t care about the kids or staff! The are greedy soulless people who only care about themselves! The pay is low!
