I have been working at Cambridge Savings Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Highly competitive benefits, engaged and accessible leadership team, and strong sense of team. Also, our headquarters is conveniently located on the red line in Harvard Square.

    Cons

Although the main office and alewife office are easily accessible via the Red Line and MBTA Bus, some locations are only accessible via the MBTA Bus or car.

    Advice to Management

The management is very engaged and continues to assess areas of opportunity, therefore I'm hard pressed to offer specific advise at this time.

    Pros

Good pay for a bank these days.
    Good benefits.

    Cons

Culture really depends on the office.
They are going through a lot of changes.
    Tons of turnover.
Many people working there are related, which can be awkward.

Management backs management vs. individual employees

I have been working at Cambridge Savings Bank (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with and a friendly environment. Interviews aren't hard. Easy to get an entry level job.

    Cons

Can't move up unless you know senior management in retail. If you're an officer of the bank it's a great place to work with a good salary. If you're entry level it takes time to move up.

    Advice to Management

Give more opportunities to entry level employees to get promoted.

I worked at Cambridge Savings Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice coworkers, great benefits, above average pay for banking. Also, convenient locations (operation center and branches).

    Cons

Working at this bank is the worst of two worlds: big banks and small banks. Another review said it perfectly - small bank with a big bank complex. The lack of technology makes it feel like you're working for a tiny little organization. The high turnover makes you feel like you're working at a big bank.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to implement technology properly. You have the most amazing branch locations, leverage what you have by making this a place that smart, experienced people actually want to work.

I have been working at Cambridge Savings Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall I enjoyed working for this company. The compensation was good, although bonuses could have been better for the work we were doing. I guess that's the case in any banking environment. Never really had a problem when we need time off which is nice.

    Cons

I'm not a downer so I'll try to keep this PG. If someone likes you in this bank, a manager or someone higher up, you are going places. If they don't, it doesn't matter how hard you work. The regionals try to say they'll help you get to where you need to, but they don't do much. It has the potential to be a great company, if it wasn't similar to the "h.s. cliques".

    Advice to Management

Promote people based on merit, not whether they are your "yes man".
