I worked at Community Options full-time

    Pros

For my position there was a good work/life balance. Had some great co workers.

    Cons

Some poor management. HR dept wasn't too great when needing to find answers to easy questions.

I worked at Community Options full-time

    Pros

The individuals/clients make the job enjoyable.

    Cons

Salary is far below market value (mid level positions)
Advancement (upward or lateral) is nonexistent

    Advice to Management

    (a) Invest in training and development at all levels within the organization. (b) Promote consistency across business lines...often times positions with common titles have totally different roles and responsibilities. (c) diversity in recruitment, specifically in upper management...leaders within your organization should reflect you worker population.

I have been working at Community Options full-time

    Pros

The only good thing about community options I can say that's positive is some of the clients.

    Cons

The cons of working for community options is the pays bad. The old Executive Director was fired for embezzlement . She also turned a blind eye to the needs of the clients she was tasked to help. She would also constantly lie on others to protect her job. When in actuality she should have been fired.

    Advice to Management

If your thinking about applying don't because they don't care about the staff or the clients.

    Pros

    Paid time off
    Health benefits

    Cons

Not paid enough for what you do
Little to no room for advancement

    Advice to Management

Hiring process should be more strict to weed out the bad people

    Pros

Making a difference in the clients' lives, flexible hours. There are not many positive things to say about this company.

    Cons

Ridiculous pay, nepotism is the only way to advance, management has a mean girl/ high school mentality, the entire company is unorganized, there are constant payroll issues (mainly managers altering time sheets), when managers don't like you they falsify information/reports to fire employees, most managers are rude and have no education or experience, constant harassment from supervisors (sexual and otherwise)

    Advice to Management

Teach supervisors how to supervise, have employees earn promotions don't just give them to favored staff

    Pros

The consumers are great and it is fun to take them places and interact with them. There are no other pros.

    Cons

Management is awful and will throw anyone under the bus to save their own skins. Managers do not bother with employees unless it is to berate them or write them up. Overtime is not allowed and the pay does not allow a person to live above poverty. Their mission is not followed and it's heartbreaking to see the clients suffer because of it. Any reviews that are posted as positive are likely coming from upper management who don't bother with the staff or the clients.

    Advice to Management

Management needs an entire revamp. The directors and managers have a trickle down effect which is why the staff do not stay.

    Pros

The consumers we support are amazing it fills more like family then a job when i work with them.

    Cons

trainings do not really help when it comes to working in the houses. mangers are not considered when it comes to them. we have to cover shifts no matter if its overtime ( that we are not inbursed for) they expect us to come in when no else can come in no matter if it coming from your personal time.

    Pros

    Works with my personal life
    Schedule

    Cons

Other employees do not show up to relive you from your shift and their is no communication. I ended up calling the cops because management would not answer my calls and I was going into hours of OT and no one showed up to relive me when I was sick.

    Advice to Management

Get it together and answer your phones!
