I worked at Community Teamwork full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Rewarding work with families
    Networking
Being provided with tools needed to do the job
    Great teacher staff
    Benefits package

    Cons

Management really only cares about themselves and are out of touch with what is going on with employees and clients.
Employees and supervisors care caddy and highly unprofessional making statements that could be interpreted as sexist, racist and basically middle school drama.
Coworkers and supervisors will go out of their way to avoid working with somebody that confronts them about the inappropriate behavior such as yelling, "tattling" on activities that are common practice with their buddy supervisors, and refusing to work with coworkers that they are "mad" at.
Management is unprofessional, degrading, borderline emotionally/verbally abusive.
Seriously unhealthy atmosphere to be working in.
    No raises or promotions

    Advice to Management

Clean House. Put management in that actually care about clients and not employees or supervisors that complain that a family has "a bigger TV" then they do. Seriously?
There needs to be serious training and accountability within management and employees around proper education for the position they are in. If you have somebody doing case management and social work/ screening for mental health for children and families- there should be some degree and in depth training around this.
Treat your employees professionally, with respect and with compassion

    Lack of Performance Management
An employee may go five years without a review
    Low to nonexistent advancement opportunities

    Advice to Management

    Pros

If you keep your head down, you can expect stable employment.

Organization puts about 5% of your pay in 401K for you and doesn't require you to match your contribution.

There are diligent and smart people who like to get things done scattered throughout the organization.

Usually, you get the tools (software, desk things, hardware) that you need to do the job. Often you get the tools that would help your job ( 2 monitors, desktop printer, scanner.)

    Cons

Generally, management is a distinct caste with special privileges that works to protect their interest (sometimes ego, sometimes leisure time) rather than that of the clients or employees. For example, I saw a manager make a $25,000 mistake with no consequences. I've seen workers reprimanded for $1,000 mistakes.

There would be more negative reviews if departing employees weren't offered 4 weeks of pay on top of unemployment in exchange for signing non-disclosure agreements.

There are people who have been at CTI for decades who can do no wrong. For example, screaming melt-downs every 2-3 months.

No merit raises. Everyone gets the same raise (or not) each year.

    Advice to Management

As a person sitting in management meetings I can say...

When people report problems, try not to blame the victim.

Create measurement systems designed to measure reality not present a good story to funding agencies.

    Share relevant information with labour.

Don't be so rigid about your prerogatives.

Cap salaries. There are too many people who could never work any place else who's only interest leaving work at 3:59pm

Don't hid things from the state. They aren't stupid and that's why they don't treat you with trust.

    Pros

The type of work that I never have to take home

    Cons

Pay sucks, no room for growth

    Advice to Management

You are not really in touch with clients, so allow the staff who are bring new ideas to the table. I'm sure they will work better than half of the ones you come up with
