Pros
Talented creative team, fun social events
Cons
The team is a great group of individuals, and there are some very talented people working on the creative team, but there is a complete dearth of leadership. One of the most volatile working environments you could imagine. Team morale is very low, and many employees have admitted they are borderline depressed. There is constant panic among the company, and many people have been thrown under the bus to save the jobs of upper management, who often are completely checked out. Instead of fixing communication issues, which stem from the CEO down through the creative department, they turn their back on people to save their own reputation and keep clients. Sometimes, they don't even let people know they've been fired, since everyone's a "freelancer." CEO is non-confrontational and does not communicate effectively, despite empty claims he is transparent. They continually hire junior creatives, telling them Contend is not a place to grow, yet expecting them to be experts, do flawless work, and understand everything with little information or guidance. You come to discover that the people in leadership positions are two-faced and won't communicate with you when something is wrong, instead going behind your back and having serious conversations about your future without including you in any step of the conversation. It's survival of the fittest at this company. And the fittest tend to be those who are in the driver's seat of the bus.
