I have been working at Dimensional Innovations full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Uplifting, Energetic, Encouraging, Morale Boosting atmosphere

    Cons

In some areas there's a lack of proper communication, there's also areas where employees could better be served, take our suggestions seriously and with proper consideration, too often it seems our ideas or suggestions to improve our company culture or the overall efficiency in our procedures go overlooked or completely ignored, we've been asked in the Overcommunicate meetings to voice our opinions, concerns and suggestions but that seems to be lacking a little. Also, if we recommend certain individuals we feel would be a great edition to the DI team please give them strong consideration, I've personally recommended around 8 to 10 people and only 2 have received call backs.

    Advice to Management

Don't let employees feel intimidated, don't let us feel like if we speak our minds and voice concerns or even criticize how things operate we will be reprimanded or our jobs will be in jeopardy for speaking out. We do care and want to be a part of the DI family but there are certain things that seem like are off limits to even think about much less voice.

I have been working at Dimensional Innovations full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Culture- beer on tap and some really amazing people with awesome ideas and work ethics. Profit sharing as well! For the most part, all your fellow employees can turn into great friends (good people).

    Cons

Culture is actually a con at times; they'd rather give employees beer on tap and do "happy hours" than give employees the day after thanksgiving off. That's just one example, but the point is that work is much more important to the company than a personal life.

They fire people on whims. It's to the point recently where many of us all wonder who is next, and if it will be our jobs even when it isn't deserved.

The stress level and pressure is not worth the pay. Unfortunately most of us have put in years at this company and don't want to lose being fully vested and fight the rest of the KC job market to find a job we're truly valued at.

Supervisors do not care or respect employees. This is not all, there are a few incredible supervisors in the bunch of bad. But one in particular told an employee that "DI doesn't owe you anything, and if you can't change your attitude than there's the door"- this was in regards to a potential raise. I understand there are growing pains with the new location and more business, but without us DI would not be DI.

There is a phrase that goes "if someone feels appreciated, they will always do more than expected". Do NOT expect to be appreciated here- you are a cog in the machine and all they care about is money.

    Advice to Management

VALUE your employees. There is a problem when hard working employees are constantly worried about their job status and are getting underpaid. Listen to their ideas- you can't build trust with employees without actually putting your trust in their thoughts. I see someone acknowledging these posts, and that person is not the problem. Our CEO is very well liked, it's the supervisors beneath him mishandling us. Once you address them and how they treat employees, you will get a much better response.

I have been working at Dimensional Innovations full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

We have a very diverse culture here at D.I. that makes this a great place to work. The broad spectrum of people that come together to make some of the coolest signs and projects in and out of town is an awesome and humbling experience. This is the type of company where you can literally start from the bottom and advance yourself through your own hard work and the relationships you build.

    Cons

The busier you get the more time you spend at work to get the job done. If you like overtime and to travel this place has ample opportunities for you. A lot is asked of our out of town travelers and I've experienced the negative side effects this can have on your family first hand. The important thing to remember is the paycheck you're working for every week

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! I have seen multiple occasions where feedback was requested and or ideas of improvement from the lower ranked employees. This feedback was listened to and from what I've seen implemented almost right away or a process to implement was established and started.

I worked at Dimensional Innovations full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Talented artists (painters, welders) were among those employed in in the shop at DI.

    Cons

Shop personnel were constantly exposed to workplace hazards, including fumes from adhesive products and unsecured equipment/materials.
Sales team made promises to clients that were impossible for the shop to achieve, expecting project managers to run interference and console unhappy clients.
Impossible to manage projects when accountable for deliverables out of the PM's control.

    Advice to Management

    Make realistic promises.
Treat your employees like they're worthwhile and integral to your success.
