Pros

It's an 18 month old startup patching and hacking it's internal structure towards victory. Beauty is pain, and HomeSuite is doing very, very well for it's age despite economic turmoil in Silicon Valley. HomeSuite is one of the only a handful of serious early-stage startups left, and David is a rare breed of CEO: He's sharp and intelligent, yet still humble. I've met plenty of "entrepreneurs," and then I met David - a real entrepreneur. It's comforting knowing this company can hire senior-level leadership, and it's impressive looking back on how far we've come from our first days in Palo Alto. It's mind boggling and mental to know just how much HomeSuite has changed and improved in over a year.

Cons

There is a profound need to hire senior-level leadership and a suspiciously absent urge to assist entry- and mid-level employees who are drowning in work. As the company grew, transparency declined, and like a heavy fog, few knew truly where the company was heading, how other departments were doing, nor who even sat on our board (seriously, who sat on the board?). Silicon Valley is blighted by politics, and HomeSuite is no exception. Those who survive this game of board seats, buyouts, and IPOs seldom lament on those left behind. Instead, experience is used to burn-and-churn the novice and unsuspecting. As HomeSuite patches and hacks it's way to the top, I hope conditions will improve in the trenches.
