Pros

small startup without the ego of big establishments friendly people at HQ - when you can get ahold of them, that is excellent pay with bonuses

Cons

typically stringent absence policies poor curriculum development - a lot is left to the teacher to do abysmally pathetic communication - not a lot of clarity especially during onboarding

Pros

When I started with this company back in 2016, I remember there being 0 reviews for this company. It was not very well known. Since then, I have had the privilege to see them grow and succeed. I truly enjoyed working for this company. The only reason I am not working for them anymore is due to the changing laws in china along with life events that have happened to me personally. This job helped me to love teaching again! It is a fun job and stress free environment. If I could, I would go back to work for them in a heartbeat! I have to give a shout out to Linda, she is amazing and always there for you. Pay raises are consistent. Work from home. You have the freedom to teach how you want. The students are mostly sweet, obedient and hard working. The staff truly cares about you. The lessons are already pre planned so you don’t have to do any preparation beforehand.

Cons

Waking very early can be hard when you are first starting out. Sometimes the children can be very mischievous. The ever changing laws in China make it difficult for everyone.

Pros

Staff books lessons for more consistent students and schedule. Supportive staff. They are very appreciative and it feels like a family. No daily feedback for students. Closed on US Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Also closed during major Chinese Holidays. The holiday schedule for the year is announced ahead of time. The students and families are wonderful! Compensation is fair and there are opportunities for pay increases. I had worked at a larger company for almost 2 years. I switched to 31abc about 8 months ago and it was the best decision I could have made. I love the smaller company, the flexibility in teaching, and feeling appreciated. There is a monthly meeting that coaches are highly encouraged to attend. The monthly meetings are a great place to get helpful advice and tips from other coaches.

Cons

Instead of daily feedback, coaches complete 2 reports during each unit. The reports are a little longer and sometimes very time consuming to complete when first starting. The more lessons you teach and get to know students, the easier they become. There is not a lot of resources and training available to new coaches. If you are brand new to teaching ESL online, it can be overwhelming. They are actively working to set up trainings and resources. It is a little difficult to connect with other coaches other than the monthly meetings.
