Pros
AAM Competition is a growing company which offers some amazing products for the Nissan and Infiniti vehicle platforms. These products are manufactured in house and are high quality. Ownership does not cut corners when it comes to making the best products they can. AAM Competiion has invested heavily in industry leading machinery to ensure they can produce some great products for their customers. One visit to their facility will show you that ownership is serious about the business and are not afraid to invest in anything that makes them a better company. The potential to succeed at AAM Competition is unlimited, especially if you are a good sales person. The products AAM Competition manufactures are in demand and competition is limited, so with a bit of dedicated effort you can really succeed. They pay good commissions are there are plenty of inbound customer calls looking for products. If you are really good and seek your own customers your paycheck will surely benefit! I don't think the stated turnover rate is correct as I did not experience this personally during my tenure with the company. Small businesses are dependent on good employees and unfortunately AAM Competition has not had the best of luck with recruiting A+ Players. The Company has been growing at such a fast pace they are hiring to keep up with the industry/demand, which sometimes yields less than desirable employee hires which can then impact company performance. With a good team of A+ Players this company will be phenomenal, they have everything going for them: an excellent market, amazing products, great company vision, and dedicated ownership. Company culture is good, there are some great employees currently working there who will take you right under their wing and help you learn the products and industry. Don't let the previous post fool you - the turnover they have experienced is due to quick paced hiring to keep up with their products demand. Hours are great, benefits are good and ownership is very understanding of unexpected issues which cause you to miss some time off work. I can't think of a more understanding owner when it comes to personal issues. Ownership really cares about the company, it's employees and the customers. They hold company meetings at local establishments and really try to bring the team together. Not many other businesses do this which is unfortunate. They really try to provide their employees with a great environment to work at. There is even a break room with fridge, cooking elements and a pool table! Ownership is prepared to make things right when they go wrong. We are dealing with vehicle builds here, problems arise, it's normal. What separates AAM Competition from the rest is ownership's willingness to push forward, fix the issue, and ensure all parties involved are happy. The location is great, right between Washington, Annapolis and Baltimore. The owner is also not afraid to reward those who deserve it. If you are an "entitled" type of a person who thinks you deserve XY & Z just because, this might not be a great fit for you. But if you are hard working, dedicated and passionate about your job you will surely be rewarded. The business is constantly investing in new technologies further showing ownership's commitment to being the best there is. There are weekly company meeting in which you are encouraged to share your ideas, opinions, and suggestions. Of course not every suggestion can be implemented but ownership/managers really try their best to take all good suggestions and act on them.
Cons
Not too many to think of but I'll list what I believe are "areas of improvement" Recruiting - it's unfortunate that AAM Competition does not have all A+ players on board. Due to this and the companies growth, ownership is having to hire based on need instead of finding the perfect players. This takes time away from product development and achieving company goals. But once the team is built on A+ players, ownership will go back to dedicating their time to moving the company forward and achieving the great! Some of the current employees can experience low moral. I have seen this in all of my previous employment experiences so as long as you can block out the "negative nancies" and possibly push some of your own positive outlook on the negative employees it will improve the environment. Paid every two weeks. Not a con as I am used to this pay cycle, but some people may view this as a negative. No matching retirement plan, but this is common for a smaller company. If you are an A player - join the team and help grow the business, ownership will be sure to implement this at the appropriate level. Ownership can be "too" kind. I have seen employees take advantage of the kindness of ownership. It's a shame really. Again - not a negative but to see your co-workers take advantage of somebody being kind and sincere is sad. To few resources. As the common message from this post - AAM needs quality team member to help push them forward. Currently some employees are wearing several hats (which is fine) but with more A+ players it will enable the current employees to focus on what they are best at.
