Interesting place to work, nice people to work with, but slow career progression. - Research Scientist ARRB Employee Review

Pros

Its great to work with enquiring minds. The people are generally friendly and helpful. Work can be very interesting, but (as you would expect in a research organisation) you need to have a head for your subject area, patience with the process, conscientiousness and ability to handle and learn from criticism. There is support for further study (if you pursue it).

Cons

Slow career progression compared with a consultancy or engineering firm. Projects can be very long and progress very slowly.

Pros

Working in the field means you don't have to interact with management daily The experience is a good stepping stone to better things

Cons

Very unorganized company, everything is constantly behind schedule Working in the field you'll be forced to crunch to make up for poor planning by management Very poor office culture, very toxic environment where people don't trust each other or want to work as a team Management will pressure you to work 12 hour days 6 days a week for 3 weeks at a time while living in cheap hotels Very low quality training that leads to unsafe working conditions
