Pros
Lower end management is thoughtful and attentive to the needs of employees
Cons
Acme Distribution and its sister company Howard Logistics is a pit that no one should fall into. The company as a whole cares little to nothing about its employees, and is willing to burn through a steady list of temporary workers until they find one desperate enough to stick it out. Many of their warehouses are set up with heat but they refuse to turn it on. During winter it is often colder inside than it is outside. Senior management is as incompetent as it gets, often blaming employees for their mistakes. Good training is a joke as well. I often had to teach guys who had been there many more years than I had how to do simple tasks. The first year I was there they gave me a measly $15 certificate for a turkey during Thanksgiving week. The next year, they didn't even bother to do that since they were trying to pinch pennies so much. Some of the lower end guys are only making $9 an hour and are expected to work ridiculous hours. Four hours one week, 60 the next. I worked there for six months as a temp before getting hired on, and then had to work a full year before I got a raise. Some of the temps they hired now are only making a dollar less than me, which means when they get hired on (if they get hired because there is a hiring freeze) they will be making what I do now. What I had to work two years to achieve. Ridiculous. This company does not care one bit about its employees and gives you absolutely no incentive to remain with them. I recommend as far away from it as you can.
