Pros

Staff really care about the clients Staff really try hard to do a good job Average pay for the job Good training offered but some is not relevant and is a waste of time and frustrating

Cons

Organisation was very drug focused and mental health services don't seem to fit. It is bad enough being the poor relation to physical health but within your own organisation was worse. It felt like NHS on the cheap. Staff were stressed and morale was low. Offices over crowded and furniture was rickety and even broken. Furniture was blocking exits. Very little focus on the wellbeing of staff leads to staff getting mental health problems themselves. poor systems and structures lead to doubling up on work effort. Clients were brought through areas where staff were talking to other clients on the phone so this is not very confidential and some of the rooms are not private and you can hear every word that is being said by clients.

Thank you for taking the time to review Addaction. I am sorry that you feel that the organisation doesn’t sufficiently recognise its mental health services. These services represent around 10% of the total turnover of the organisation. We do endeavour to ensure that our workplaces are well furnished and that any broken furniture is removed promptly. From time to time we do have premises where the layout is not ideal – we do the best we can within the budgets we have available. We have a range of mechanisms in place in order to support staff wellbeing, but we recognise that we can always do more on this – as such, staff wellbeing will be a focus of our upcoming staff conferences this summer. In addition, we are working on a number of projects which aim to streamline our systems and reduce any duplication of effort from front line staff. Anna Whitton Executive Director of Operations

Pros

Management who supports with professional development / flexible working / trust to manage own workload / feeling that you're part of an organisation making an actual difference to people's lives / my experience was that the staff live the charity's values - compassion, non-judgmental

Cons

While remote working is a plus, the downside is feeling disconnected from the rest of team
