Pros

You'll read this again and again, but it's true: what makes Adventure Life special are the people that work there. While we are now too big to be "like a family", we still retain a lot of those characteristics. Employees hang out, there are often beverages on Friday afternoons, BBQ's on weekends, a ski trip or two during the winter, a raft trip every summer, lots of parties. We are a festive crew who dress up for Halloween -- we have a Spirit Week every year a la Middle School. Our work is demanding, so we try to keep the rest light. The work itself is fast-paced, intense and there really isn't any downtime. I have literally never been bored in the past 9 years and I'm grateful for that kind of job. The travel perks are legit, the break room stocked with snacks, REALLY good benefits for Missoula, pay is good and getting better. The boss man buys the office lunch at least a few times a month. Management actually cares about the people here - you put in your time and they will have your back. My daughter was sick and I had to work remote from CA for a month -- not a problem. On top of it, AL donated the miles so that we could fly there from Montana. Not your average CEO. I love working here. Seriously. I like coming to work every day and it's been that way every day for 9 years.

Cons

We are a very fast growing company and keeping staffing at levels appropriate to our growth has been a challenge. This job is stressful. You have to have good self-care strategies in place or you will burn out. If you want a laid-back, chill job, this is not it.

Pros

I have see Adventure Life go through many changes throughout my time here, and our most recent change to a fully-remote office has definitely been the biggest and hardest adjustment. Adventure Life was well-prepared for this transition and it went rather seamlessly when it was sprung upon us. Everyone was able to move their work station home and stay safe while continuing to work for our customers. It has been great to work with such an amazing team of dedicated employees to bring the company through the pandemic and into the next phase of this company, stronger and more prepared than ever. I've appreciated all the flexibility and accommodation management has provided as everyone has had to adjust to a new normal working from home. Staff has been encouraged to take breaks, get outside or get exercise when they need it. We have managed to keep as much of the friendly atmosphere as we can considering all is done over the computer or phone. Even though I can't see them regularly in person, I still love my conversations with my coworkers and appreciate the calls with them. Video chat really does make a difference!

Cons

Working from home has its challenges, and is not for everyone. I have appreciated the added time with my family, but often feel I am always sort of working as I can't easily just walk away from my home office. You have to be self-driven to work remotely, and we are all very busy so it would be easy to get behind if you don't put in your hours.
