Pros

For those who thrive in creating their own path and working hard, this is an incredible opportunity. I loved working with our retail partnerships and fellow district reps. If you need constant oversight or need a regimented schedule, this could be a difficult job for you.

Cons

No clear path for advancement, management will breadcrumb you with promises for continued hard work, but no acknowledgment or celebrating individual wins. No true company culture; you’ll get trained up then never see anyone again. Impossible to get thoughtful responses about overall company vision. Changes are constantly made by managers with no SOPs, so you’re oftentimes left in confusion about processes and have to be reactive vs. proactive. Absolutely no work life balance. Expect calls from clients 8am -9pm, 7 days a week. Pulling teeth to get answers about commission structure. I did enjoy my time here, learned a lot. But as a whole, Alton Lane has a long way to go until it will feel fluid and smooth.

Pros

The brand has a good concept and the product quality is solid. The frontline staff are generally great people who are trying their best despite the circumstances.

Cons

The primary issue at Alton Lane is a leadership team that is stuck in the past and completely disconnected from the daily realities of the business. Antiquated Leadership: The executive mindset is outdated. They rely on old strategies that don't work in the current market, yet they are unwilling to listen to feedback from the people actually doing the work. Echo Chamber Culture: Leadership doesn't want innovators; they want "yes people." If you provide honest feedback or suggest improvements, you are viewed as "not a team player." This has created a culture where no one speaks the truth to power, and management remains in the dark. Unrealistic Expectations: Goals and KPIs are set with zero basis in reality. Leadership has no clue what is actually happening on, leading to impossible demands that inevitably result in burnout and high turnover. No Investment in Staff: Between the lack of a 401k match and the absence of bonuses, it’s clear they view employees as a cost to be minimized rather than an asset to be developed.
