Pros

The company allows you to work from anywhere and provides a certain level of flexibility.

Cons

After I was terminated, I submitted my final invoice, but it was never paid. It has now been several months, and despite multiple follow-ups, the company has stopped responding to my emails. My advice to anyone leaving the company is: do not sign a termination agreement until you have received all outstanding payments owed to you. The company conducts background checks to see whether candidates have taken legal action against previous employers. Based on my experience, I now better understand why this appears to be part of their hiring process. In addition, the company monitored my social media accounts and pressured me to change my online presence to align with their expectations, despite my status as an independent contractor. Overall, my experience was unprofessional and disappointing, particularly due to the lack of communication and the failure to pay for completed work.

Pros

I’ve had a good experience at Ambush. I started more on the engineering side and now spend more of my time with clients and operations, so I’ve seen the company from a few different angles. What I like most is that our engineering is actually really strong. That matters when working with clients because we're not trying to oversell something the team can't back up. Everyone I come across here at Ambush is genuinely smart, proactive, responsive, and always willing to jump in to help others on the team and with clients whenever possible. I've worked with other similarly large consulting companies and this is actually a big outlier here. The work can be a little different week to week, which I enjoy. Some days are are a lot of client interactions and one-one-ones, but generally there is always something challenging and new to deal with.

Cons

Some things still rely too much on people knowing who to ask instead of having everything documented. It works, but it can slow things down.

Pros

I’ve had a really positive experience at Ambush. The work is interesting, the people are talented, and there is a good balance of autonomy and support. It feels like a place where engineers are trusted to think through problems, make good decisions, and take ownership without being micromanaged. That trust is probably one of the things I appreciate most. You are given room to do your best work, but people are still available when you need input or another perspective. It creates a culture where you feel respected, not just managed. The projects are usually challenging in a good way, especially around modern product engineering, data, and AI related work. There is a lot of room to ask questions, shape the solution, and contribute beyond just writing code. The team culture has also been a big positive. People are sharp, but approachable. Communication is direct, and there is not a lot of unnecessary corporate noise. It feels like a company that is still very focused on doing great work and hiring people who care.

Cons

The pace can be fast, and priorities can shift as projects evolve. That can be a little messy at times, but it also comes with the territory when you are working on ambitious things with growing teams and clients.
