Pros

Interesting and engaging projects. People with initiative and a willingness to learn will succeed and be given more and more opportunities. Small size allows people to learn new skills and wear many hats to be able to contribute in different ways.

Cons

It can sometimes be hard to organize and stay scheduled due to changing priorities and new projects and tasks every day.

Pros

It's a small enough company that you easily get to know all employees by name, which fosters an almost family like atmosphere (which is a majority positive, but families get along in unique ways). The owner genuinely cares about his employees and shows his appreciation where he can. As an engineer at this company, the small size also meant that I had the ability to take on a diverse set of responsibilities, which I found to be very engaging. Additionally, atmosphere is pretty relaxed.

Cons

Small company size also has its downsides. The business doesn't have a huge amount of resources, and there isn't much room for vertical growth as an employee.

Pros

- Fast paced environment where things change quickly. Exciting to see changes implemented immediately with little red tape. - No micro management. Your impact is correlated with your own ambition and creativity at American Holt. - Flexible management. I always felt like I could voice a concern or speak my mind and management was always thoughtful and flexible enough to accommodate those concerns. - Good people. Easy to make friends at Holt because you can be yourself as long as you get your work done. - Annual tuition or adult learning stipend. The owner encourages and rewards those who want to learn outside of work hours. - Exposure to a unique and successful business operation. If you pay close enough attention, you will learn about the various departments that make a business successful: purchasing, product life-cycle management, research and development, accounting, IT, management, customer service. - Challenging but rewarding work.

Cons

Workstations are on site. No working from home.
