Pros

Anchor Wave prioritizes work-life balance and has a reasonable outlook on growth and development. Very friendly and encouraging team community.

Cons

No major cons I've noticed at this point. Every company has its challenges and they work through them as best as any team does.

Pros

Culture was and will always be #1 for this team. It's been close to a year since leaving and I still miss working with the folks at Anchor Wave. They're a smaller team but that means you have the benefit of project managers who actually know how to use their CMS, what it's capable of, and how to negotiate client demands to reasonable requests. Timelines are pretty reasonable, management sees you as a human and not just an employee, and it's an atmosphere unlike anywhere else I've worked. They'll celebrate your joys, cry with you, and have your back with the clients. By far one of the best employers I've had the pleasure of working for.

Cons

Sometimes tech decisions need to be made and management isn't totally sure how to handle them. This tends to fall on the developer's shoulders but really should be handled by a tech lead or CTO with more experience. When there's only one person handling a department, the opportunities for growth pretty much stop there. Much of the custom development that was done in the past was removed from their product offerings, and the web development process has been manicured to be as automated as possible. Not a bad business model, but if you like to dig your hands deep into code, you may be disappointed. Also, compensation tends to start on the lower end of the industry standard, though annual reviews usually include a slight pay increase.
