Pros

- great exposure to high net worth engagements - lots of opportunities to work with upper management - you will be surrounded by smart, motivated and career driven individuals - You get the "Big Four feel" in a smaller setting - If you are all in on your career, you will be given the attention and guidance to advance - the Firm has a buddy, mentor system to encourage teamwork - the Firm sponsors plenty of after work events to celebrate hard work

Cons

- The commercial practice is still developing, there's simply not enough go-to experts to provide assistance. The commercial side is still developing a workpaper to be used Firm-wide. - There really isn't much work/life balance (unless your work is your life). If you have other priorities outside work (that have equal or greater importance), it is very difficult to balance your priorities without sacrificing something (sleep, time with loved ones). - Office environment from top to bottom consists of cliques. If you have no desire to "join" a clique, you will find yourself very isolated. - Quite behind on technology. The technology available is sufficient for high net worth individual clients, but it is currently not good enough for commercial engagements.

Pros

I spent under 4 years at the firm as a intern to senior associate. It was an amazing experience but I attribute my experience to having an extroverted personality which most people do NOT have going into public accounting. My team in particular was filled with amazing people that invested in you personally and professionally IF you worked hard to cultivate the relationships and grow your professional skillset. I was able to create meaningful relationships outside of the office and have fun at the firm.

Cons

I also attribute my positive experience to having great staff around me. That being said, the people you work with can really make or break you at the firm. There are some people that will demand absolute excellence and you will never be able to satisfy them because there will also be the next busy season filled with the same mannerisms and management styles. I also was not happy with the compensation especially when compared to similar roles at other accounting and tax firms.
