Pros

Decent staff discounts and helping people with thier pets.

Cons

Where do I start? -Management is absolutely horrible, I've worked in multiple stores and most of the managers are horrible to work for and gaslight you. Constantly giving criticism but no praise. -The area manager is the most unauthentic, uncaring person I have come across. She does not care about her staff and doesnt listen to them. She is constantly shutting you down and not willing to listing to what you ahve to say. Instead they put down other companies and laugh when staff leave. Such a toxic environment. -They have incredibly high expectations and even when you put in 100% effort you are not appreciated and the pay is very low, starting on minimum wage. -Really high staff turnover due to poor management. I've seen amazing knowledgeable staff members leave as they weren't valued or worse, were BULLIED out by management. -The products are really overpriced, high profit margins. Poor choice of products too and rarely get in good new stock. No options for people on a budget either. -To top it off, the uniforms are a terrible material and fur sticks to it. Staff have complained about the uniform multiple times but nothing is done.

Pros

Heaps of things to learn, very varied work (for retail). Generally positive customers because they're happy to talk about their pets. Typically upbeat, lively, fun role on a day to day basis. Ideal as a short term thing or part time whilst at uni etc. Do not learn management from them, you will be taught the wrong things.

Cons

Poor management culture from store level to regional. Lots of bullying. Lots of favouritism. Lots of deeply insecure lower levels managers who can't handle a challenge without making things personal. Have known managers to drive to people's houses and check that they are home on a sick day. Blatant power tripping and it's celebrated amongst the management team as being a good thing.
