Pros

Cons

If you ask for a raise it will create a hostile work environment with the owner, "D". Everyone is underpaid so there is a bad attitude in the workplace. "D" doesn't care about his employees. I had my vacation revoked last minute and lost $500-600 in things i couldn't get refunded. My wife had to waste her vacation days at home. "D" had problems with a client's systems and told me that I would lose my job if I went on that vacation. After I found a new job I spoke with another old coworker who had since left Applied and we both had experiences where "D" would tell us both the same thing and pit us against each other. also, watch out for him setting up your initial pay incorrectly. He likes to setup paychecks to be paid twice monthly (ie - 24 paychecks/year), and then set your pay to only equal your salary if there were paychecks every other week (ie - 26 paychecks/year). example: if he hires you at $50,000/year then with twice monthly checks you should get $2083.33 before taxes, but Don will set it up so you only get paid $1923.08 before taxes. This leaves him ample ground to backpedal on by saying it was just a mix-up... just make sure you do the math...

I'm a firm believer that what a person perceives to be true is true to them no matter how the reality of the situation may differ. That said, I don't see much value in trying to take each point of a complaint list and trying to offer a counter argument. But I will say that as the Owner of the Business, none of the perceived notions described above define how I strive to run the Business. I will also just say that I believe every single person brings their own attitude in with them each day, but often lack an ability for self-reflection when that attitude isn't positive. It's easier to place blame elsewhere than take an honest look inside. If there's ever been a mistake on any item such as a payroll item, we always rush to correct the problem and always err on the side of the employee if there is any question. We may not be right every single time we do something, but if we do make a mistake we admit it and make sure we do it extra right the next time.
