Pros
Great and very interesting work. Brilliant clients. Good benefits. Most employees are very nice. Regular company meetings.
Cons
Many managers are very good. They will support you and do their best to advance your career no matter who you are or where you are from - you just need to work well and to the best of your ability. However, there are a significant number of other managers who are utterly terrible and unethical - they will hold you back no matter how well you perform or how much your clients value you. From my own experience and from others who I know at Ashfield, it seems like the people who tend to feel the brunt of these 'toxic' managers are often people of colour. Sadly, many employees including myself face regular passive agressive attitudes, are heavily overworked and our progression is blocked for no logical/valid reason with repeated cycles of disappointment. This can be very demoralizing, especially when you see others of a similar calibre progressing well and being treated fairly. When on the receiving end of this discrimination, many take the decision to leave the company. I am barely hanging on and it has taken a large toll on my mental health. I will likely hand in my notice soon. It can be a large gamble whether you will end up with, or be transferred to, a manager who supports you or one who will hold you back unfairly. Change is needed.
