Pros

-Pay: Atlan seems to recognize how much they ask of employees and compensate accordingly, paying top of the US market salaries regardless of city/state. -People: The individuals here are genuinely wonderful, caring, low-ego humans all around who are excellent at what they do. Collaboration at Atlan is a pleasure for that reason. -Agency: Atlan is all-in on AI and you can experiment with any tool or new workflow as long as it involves expanding AI use. You'll find very few barriers to acting on (AI-native) ideas here.

Cons

-Leadership: a very flat org where the co-founders micromanage everything, change their mind constantly (often right before deadlines), and treat the entire company like a service org for themselves. Success in GTM is defined as "what leadership likes". -Disorganization: for a company that sells governance there is shockingly little documentation or process, even for basic workflows (approvals, what tools to use for drafts, brand guidelines, etc) - the influx of AI tools is making this worse. If you don't already know where something lives and who to talk to about it, you'll waste days re-doing past work. -The chase for "cutting-edge": every time there's something new--a trending term, product capability, new customer--they seemingly abandon everything in progress up until that point and drop it in favor of the new thing. On the marketing front, this is both a poor strategy and exhausting to keep up. -Timezones: half of the team sits in India which means both early mornings and late nights to collaborate.

Thank you for this feedback. Atlan is founder-led by design, and that means you'll have a front row seat to how decisions get made. You'll be in Slack threads and working sessions with our founders on product direction, see customer feedback shaping the roadmap in real time, and when priorities shift you'll understand why. That way of working and level of access isn't for everyone, but for many Atlanians it can be a rewarding source of learning and professional development. Regarding our global model, you're right: connecting across time zones is an important part of how we work on some of our teams and can feel more challenging and different from other companies with teams only in similar time zones. In return, we encourage flexible schedules, which many Atlanians value. On the well-being side, we offer flexible PTO, flexible working hours, and shared company closures so teams can actually disconnect together across time zones. We also provide mental health coverage and access to 1:1 counseling. We're continuing to work on where we can delegate decisions and move faster to minimize the risk of burn out. If you're open to sharing more, we're at peopleops@atlan.com.

Pros

Leadership is inspiring and sets a high standard that pushes everyone on the team to grow, and they show it by continuously investing in their people. The culture rewards those who push themselves, and you can feel that everyone around you genuinely cares about the mission. Amazing place to develop quickly and learn in an AI-native environment.

Cons

The pace means you have to advocate for yourself and continuously raise the bar.

Pros

Base salary and benefits are ok, lots of opportunity to work with emerging tech, AI tooling if that appeals to you.

Cons

Will work you to death. Nonstop every waking hour of your life will be spent working. Weekends, evenings, mornings. Literally all of your time. Management will have no idea your doing this because they have no visibility into what people are doing. They are strictly reactive, relying on bad data, poorly constructed AI summaries and cultural/gender bias to form opinions on employee performance. They are rapidly trying to replace as many employees as possible with AI tooling. There’s no less than 5 AI tools constantly confusing everyone and changing the code base actively. No one can keep up with this, and it’s destroyed trust with the customers. This place is a complete mess. Management would rather cheerlead the AI overlords rather than face the fact that this system is not working, and needs to be fixed from the top down.
