Pros

Good learning experience, they provided training and allowed me to work in places i never have before... like data centers, airports and other high security places.

Cons

Not much to say here except that they are a small company, so there werent any benefits or 401 k matching or anything like that.

Pros

It isn't fair to say Atompod is much like other companies in this industry, but they do stand apart in terms of what they do and how they do it. For example, I've worked for telecom cabling, electrical, doing wiring, phone lines etc. Here, we have to do more than that - routing, switching, IP phone systems & security. I like that I have the opportunity to learn new things, and be in environments that I would have never got to see working at my previous jobs. The main pro here is the opportunity for advancement, and learning. Also management is friendly and what you would expect from a San Francisco bay area type tech company... No big boys club... no arrogance... etc.

Cons

No medical benefits yet, though they say they will offer this as they continue to grow. Also - for some, I can see how the traveling can be a con, because of the late hours, commutes, etc. I'm used to spending weeks on the road, so this isn't bad.

Pros

There are plenty of training opportunities. And you get to go to cool places and customers that you cant with any other company. They basically do everything when it comes to commercial networks builds and service. Better than average pay than I've seen. Company motto seems to always put the employees first. They pay for travel. Give $100/mo for a stipend, put you in hotels when traveling or working late. OK benefits, but you have to be with them for at least a year

Cons

If you don't like driving around (anywhere from 4-6 jobs a day from city to city to city) then this isn't for you. We had to use our own vehicles although they pay for gas and per diems. I've never had a bad experience but they have gone through multiple supervisors lately... Also theres a lot of overtime but sometimes its a good thing. Can't even work as contractor on the side, because they're always worried about legal stuff. Company was growing fast when I was there.

Thanks for the review. We are still a small, yet growing company, and currently our techs do a lot of travel and this means often long days. We are working on alleviating this as we have more people in more markets. We do allow PT employees now, as some of our techs are students or have familial obligations! Lastly, we do not plan on hiring or using contractors in the near future. Most of our customers require that we use only W-2 Employees as it can be hard to gauge whether contractors are up to the top standards our employees live by. Under certain circumstances, we have been allowed to and have used contractors, but this is not a regular business practice for us.
