Pros

Having a nice office including the building and location

Cons

- Hybrid work environment: Your boss is forcing you to come to work, which contradicts the advertised benefit. - Collaborative, supportive and inclusive work culture: You feel that if you care about other people, you will be scolded and that you are only expected to care about your workload. - Complimentary membership to the ACS and the many benefits associated with the membership, including our Ambassador card: You feel that this benefit is useless and that there are better benefit tools available outside of the company. - NFP Salary Packaging – meaning you pay less tax and have more take-home money to spend: You feel that this benefit is useless for the majority of people. - Employee Assistance Program (free and confidential counselling services): You feel that this benefit is useless and that it provides nothing. - Additional leave including up to 3 gifted days p.a, a recharge day and floating holidays to celebrate what's important to you: this benefit is useless, boss did not approve it. - 10 weeks of paid parental leave: You feel that this benefit is a common deal that is available everywhere in Australia. - Access to training and development: You question whether this benefit is really available. - Reward and recognition for a job well done: You feel that nobody does this and that your attempts to do this were ignored. You also feel that the management level has poor leadership skills and is too political. You have not experienced cooperation, only separation.

Pros

Some very dedicated and talented people at the lower and middle management level.

Cons

I completely agree with the previous person’s review — in my experience, working at ACS has been extremely challenging. After the latest round of redundancies, I was one of the "lucky ones" who kept my role. Unfortunately, morale has been at an all-time low, and many of us are struggling with a lack of clear communication about who remains in the business and what the strategic direction is. The leadership is disconnected from the staff, and no genuine concern for employees and members - especially elected members. They got rid of some of the most dedicated, talented people and now they've left the rest of us to clean up the mess. From my perspective, leadership hasn’t provided the clarity or reassurance we need. Maybe we'll get some answers at the next all hands meeting but I'm not optimistic. I often feels like questions aren’t genuinely welcomed. We also recently had a mandatory psychological safety workshop — which, to me, felt more like a compliance exercise than a real effort to improve workplace culture. The C-suite members were noticeably disengaged. Overall, my personal confidence in the organisation’s direction has diminished over time, and I know I'm not alone. I’ve started updating my CV, and I know many of my colleagues are doing the same.
