Pros

Rewarding and fun experiences with children, allowed for a primary experience in the field of psychology, learned about behaviorism in real time. Decent pay, and increased pay after 6 PM Weekends off

Cons

Main downside: clients get sick and you don't get paid. Since beginning a month ago I have had two clients miss an entire week, and as of today another client has gotten sick and will most likely be out for the rest of the week. There is no way to be compensated for this My availability had to be changed to accommodate for available clients, and my schedule is now from 10:30-8:30 After initial first session, there is not much guidance or feedback, so sessions can feel very unstructured and aimless. The efficacy of ABA can be debated. The history of ABA is concerning and some of the "compliance" goals seem unnecessary and can feel wrong to implement (withholding preferred item until desired phrase is said, which is incomprehensible to client. Teaches rote memorization for no purpose other than compliance?) Spending a lot of time driving to and from with not great compensation. Sometimes can feel more like a babysitter than a behaviorist.

Thank you for your support of our San Jose families! We truly appreciate the important role you play and your dedication to our mission. And we’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed your interactions with the children, as that is our favorite part, too. At ALP, we understand the impact cancellations can have on our families, and we’re actively working on piloting new programs to find a solution to this challenge. In the meantime, we encourage all our employees, including you to communicate proactively with their direct supervisor and client services to schedule makeup sessions if needed. We’re sorry to hear you didn’t feel supported after your initial session. We work hard to develop our staff so they feel fully prepared before going into client homes. If you ever find yourself in a unique situation, we encourage you to reach out to your Regional Trainer and/or Field Trainer for additional guidance. As for gas mileage, we do our best to monitor and adjust our reimbursement rate as gas prices fluctuate. In fact, we increased our mileage reimbursement several months ago to reflect sudden spikes in gas prices at that time. Thank you again for all the support you provide to our San Jose families.

Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

- insane expectations for little to no pay -they do not pay for time between clients - they expect you to work hours you are not paid -micromanaging here is next level, they value billable hours over client outcomes - massive billing fraud, which was dismissed when I brought it up to my supervisor - unsupportive environment for new BT’s - unsupportive environment for supervisees - unethical behavior - BCBA’s burnout with high caseloads and not doing anything during telehealth visits - random operations people making bad clinical decisions - extremely controlling management who put you on or take you off clients without your consent and for no reason - management retaliates against you if you don’t do all the billable hours despite honoring families request -scheduling department is an absolute mess, they take weeks to resolve billing issues or update appointments - poor or non existent supervision - high turnover rate of BT’s, they hire BT’s and accept clients without enough bcbas - they give clients to bts that are over an hour away with so travel pay - they expect you to be available all day long without paid hours

Thank you for taking the time to share this, even though we understand your experience left you feeling unheard. We want to be direct about one thing: billing integrity is something we take with absolute seriousness. Concerns of that nature are never something we dismiss, and if that was your experience when you raised it, we genuinely want to know more. That is not the standard we hold ourselves to, and it's not something we're willing to overlook. We also hear the broader frustrations you've shared — around workload, support for new BTs, scheduling, and supervision. These are areas we are actively working to improve, and your voice matters in that process. We'd sincerely encourage you to reach out to us directly at reviews@autismlearningpartners.com so we can have a real conversation. You deserved better, and we'd like the chance to listen.
