Pros
- The best engineers I have ever worked with. - A modern and agile tech stack. - You'll ship *lots* of code. Mostly good code, too. - Great career opportunities. Recruiters will see 'YC-backed' and begin to salivate.
Cons
- Terrible WLB. Expect to: (1) be called on your holidays, (2) work over Christmas, (3) be woken up at 11pm due to an (unpaid) on-call emergency, (4) work 'til 7:00/7:30 pm, or later if it's a crunch period. - Some of the management borders on tyrannical - not all of them, but enough to feel a constant sense of unease. - Deadlines for the sake of deadlines. At times, the pressure can be all-consuming. - Number of female engineers: 0 - Customer churn is very high. The metrics don't look great for their Series B, and there was an elevated sense of panic just before I left. I am not confident the business will succeed. - Employee churn is even worse. - My burnout was so intense that I sought professional therapy :)
