No Autonomy, unmanageable workload, culture of mediocrity - Manager Avient Employee Review

Pros

Large stable organisation. Lots of very nice people on a personal level

Cons

People are expected to work constantly, poor work life balance, under resourced but no decisions on which projects not to pursue. Improvements and efficiency measures not taken up because it takes too long to get approval thru the various layers of politics. Departmental managers do not have the autonomy to run things as they know best. Training and travel to other facilities frowned upon as it costs too much.

Pros

For the most part, I did not have to bring work home with me. Compensation was good. Benefits are on par with other corporations in the area, although they have been slowly eroding them.

Cons

Company still very siloed between the various business units. Middle and upper management do not work well with each other, and their strategy is not as clear as it could be. A lot of formerly in-house services have been outsourced, which has slowed down what were routine processes. Micromanagement seems to be on the rise.
