Pros
Following my time as an investment banker, Avista Capital Partners ("ACP") provided a solid platform to learn and develop the skills necessary to be a successful principal investor. At Avista, I was surrounded by intelligent, hard-working and passionate people who enjoyed their work from both an intellectual and professional standpoint.
Cons
As ACP is a relatively young company, there exist identify issues with the culture which ultimately impact teamwork and camaraderie within the firm. This is not to say that the people, individually, are not great people - only that the diversity of disparate personalities does, in certain instances, impact one's enjoyment of work.
