Pros

As a pinch of salt, I'm on an internal project which sounds to be better, so with that in mind : - Great attitude towards working hours and how you structure them. So long as you're getting the work done and working on new skills, you're can reasonably flex your time. Be available for your meetings, but if you want to work late throughout the week and leave a bit early on Friday, Bae trusts you enough not to clock watch. - paid access to training is provided. For example, all the software engineers have been provided with access to pluralsight which is amazing for working on new skills in all manner of things. - fun yet focused people to work with are all around you. Most people are more than happy to engage in chat about what they're working on, who can help, what skills are worthwhile, or even just how their weekend was. - ability to declare you want to work on a new skill set. If you're done with your project, there's nothing stopping you from asking to work on a new one in something that interests you. It can take time but it sounds like your team and operations have been told to at least consider what you say.

Cons

Blue Fin offices for both space and Internet are - for all the beauty of the building - pants. You're better off working from home at least some of the week purely because you know your house will have space and better Internet. IT infrastructure and hardware needs an update. 8GB laptops for certain projects isn't enough. Windows 7 is antiquated for what most of us need to. Requesting new software can be a confusing process that even the amazing support staff can get lost in. You might not directly work on a skill set you think you're good at. E.g. I said I have done Java before, and was put on a project that was supposed to use it but it hasn't actually required that at all. I've learned other stuff because of this, but it can be slightly disappointing initially. Some grads went ages without a project to work on. I'm confused as to why people weren't paired up initially to help them share problem solving and skill sets. Some initial welcome days felt pointless to a minor degree.
