Pros

For most positions - limited overtime required.

Cons

Poor benefits package - very basic medical coverage, no dental or vision. No 401k. No employee social events except for a Christmas party. People would bring birthday cakes for co-workers or share donuts out of their own pocket. There was one catered event to celebrate the company winning a lawsuit. Poor management skills by upper management - instead of addressing individuals who have violated company policy, upper management sends out company-wide emails that generally ends with 'is cause for termination.' No flexibility for communication - company had banned personal use of cell-phones, computer, Internet even during lunch and break times. No MP3 players were allowed, nor were departments allowed to interact. They didn't even allow people to go to their own cars at breaks. No training for managers. Promotions and why people are made supervisors are at the discretion of the company CFO, who is also the Owner's wife. There is a distinct practice of favoritism based on the language a person speaks. Low employee morale - generally employees are there with the intent of seeking alternative employment. The turnover rate was alarmingly high. Employees have to keep track of their own review schedules; I've heard stories where 3-month reviews were promised but were never given or were delayed for weeks. If employees don't remember, management is content to not give it.
