Pros

It’s been 20 years, and I am writing this review to help people make an informed choice. I joined Bajaj Auto as GTE in 2004 and have been working in R&D for close to 18 years. Biggest Pro of working in Bajaj auto is tons of learning. It’s been a roller-coaster ride where I have been involved in various Powertrain development programs spread across various segments like 3 wheelers, Quadricycle and 2 wheelers. Experienced diverse technological domains ranging from various fuel type (CNG, LPG. Gasoline, Ethanol), 2 stroke/4 Stroke, Carbureted/Fuel injected and various norms (BS4/BS6/OBD2). In my early years only, I had the opportunity to independently lead the whole engine program on my own which shows that management is open to handover responsibility if you are capable, willing and have passion. Recently I was part of the powertrain development for the world’s first CNG motorcycle which has opened a new segment in the motorcycle industry. Before that I was part of India’s first Quadricycle “Qute” development which was also a new segment in India. Both projects were designed from scratch and were a great learning opportunity for everyone involved. Our leaders believe in the strategy of “Differentiation” and both these projects stand for the same. Second best is overall working environment which is so much product oriented that everyone involved is always on the hunt for improvement, optimization and resolution keeping aside all conflicts. Openness to new ideas and challenging established norms has been a daily routine, this makes sure you have no dull day at the workplace. Everything is done with the highest level of team spirit which helps us smoothly sail through any rough patches during project execution. I have grown to Divisional manager level in these years and have been a consistent performer for many years. The company recognizes performers and rewards them with industry best performance pay. For the last few years company is also helping employee wealth creation by granting ESOP. Bajaj has a dedicated development program for identified individuals to assess next level capabilities called “development center” I have been through same in 2020 and got promoted. Additionally, Bajaj has BOLT learning platform which has huge resources of learning material and tie up with various learning platforms like eCornell, NPTEL, Skill Lync etc. Company also has higher education plan through its "LEAP" policy and many employees have availed same to further their career. For last few years HR has been Instrumental in bringing industry best practices like NPS, Voluntary medical top up insurance, Parental insurance, Car lease all of which I have availed. Company also emphasizes a lot on employee wellness and runs various program like Docter 24X7etc. Work life balance is also maintained well with flexi time and 5-day week in alignment with industry best practices.

Cons

New developments are always challenging and require dynamic changes in projects and its timeline i.e frequent changes and updates, which command high adaptability and may sometimes become tiring and those who seek very structured and predictive work environment may find it difficult to work.
