Pros

There are plenty of shifts.

Cons

UCLH trust has now gone paperless. Whereas UCLH staff get a paid day off training to use the EPIC paperless system, as a bank RMN NO training is offered by Bank Partners. On the day they went paperless I rang Bank Partners and was told to ring another number to organise training for myself. There had been no communication from Bank Partners beforehand. That number was engaged virtually all day and then I was told I had to do an elearning course in my own time, whereas UCLH staff got a paid day off work to attend training. This just sums up the couldn't care less attitude of Bank Partners. There is no opportunity for professional development as access to the online learning portal is blocked. As an RMN presumably they think you don't have to worry about revalidation. The ID badge has no mention of job title or that you work for an NHS organisation. It just has name and "Bank Partners" so sometimes patients are confused and think you are working for a high street bank. And it gets worse! Previously bank staff got discount at the hospital canteen, but now that has been removed. There really is absolutely no point at all in joining the bank at UCLH. You think you are joining an NHS bank, but it is in actual fact "Pulse Nursing (Temp) Ltd" trading as "Bank Partners". No NHS pension, just a few quid goes into a "People's Pension" account each week. If anyone wants to work at UCLH I would instead advise joining Care Providers, Your World or MedicsPro nursing agencies.

Pros

Salaried role, the people I worked with.

Cons

Low pay for high stress and workload, management treat you like a child (timing loo breaks and making sure you log in exactly on time.) My team leader was often reluctant to help (she would tell us just to "look it up" in the unhelpful OneNote or send her favourites around to help (who had been there for as long as I had). We were often put on the phone lines of the Compliance team (as they were understaffed) and had to suffer verbal abuse by candidates as we were unable to help. We would get inundated with calls from people desperately trying to reach the compliance team. Slight aside, but I also got very sick very often working at the office.

Pros

Met some decent people in my team Office days were fun when certain managers were not in

Cons

No confidentiality between managers and their staff Micromanaged despite no real KPIs or incentives. Mental health is not taken seriously until it's severe. Some of the managers have no people skills, play favourites (to the detriment of everyone else), Awful attitude towards you if you do not fit in with the rest of them. Extremely toxic and half of the department have left due to the above issues. Redundancies only to then rehire for the same roles
