Pros

The free skincare products were definitely a perk.

Cons

I would like to first of get out of the way that the CEO instructed her team to write fake positive reviews on this site to boost the Glassdoor rating number (especially notice the slew of 5-star reviews during the summer of 2020 and again during January 2021). To all current/former employees who followed through in doing this, shame on you for participating in her deceitful practices. This is meant to be a platform for people to honestly describe their experience working at a company to help others make informed decisions about their careers. I’d also like to mention, that none of these claims I would ever make lightly. They are harsh but true, and I hope this review will help even one person reconsider an offer to work here. I am seeing a few reviews claiming that this place is “fast-paced” and therefore “not for everyone”, or that you need a “thick skin”, implying that you will be challenged in a way that will progress your professional growth if you work hard. This is incredibly misleading, and only excuses the inappropriate and abusive practices that are normal at this company. I have worked other places that were truly fast-paced and challenging in a way that was still respectful of it’s employees, this is not one of those places. This company has the most disgustingly toxic environment I have ever had the misfortune to work in. I have never, in my years of experience, seen so much turnover. Every controversial thing that can happen in an office, does happen here. CEO would often leave late-afternoon/evening meetings early to go watch her kid’s soccer practice, and request that everyone involved stick around until she was able to make it back to resume the meeting. This often meant being stuck hanging around the office until 9 pm at night for her to *maybe* decide to show up again. I can’t stress enough how this would be at least a weekly occurrence, and I’m still in awe at the sheer audacity to demand and expect this from your staff. One of these nights I left at 9:00 pm after she did not show up for hours, and even though I was glued to my phone ready to react if she called, was still convinced she would find out and that I would be fired for leaving. No wonder multiple members of the team, including myself, needed to receive professional therapy after working here :( The core of the problem lies with the incredibly narcissistic CEO. While the company preaches female empowerment, transparency and productivity, internally none of these values are put into practice. Not only does the CEO preach feminist values, she uses the cause to exploit women and reap the financial benefits. Every person who works in that office has witnessed her bullying and berating a female employee at least once, sometimes even in front of her own TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS. She has been know to plagiarize and request knock-offs often, many from well-known, female-owned companies. Don’t even get me started on the openly racist comments she would often make in meetings. Most of the office consists of young women early in their career, ages 18-30, overwhelmingly white, of whom the CEO happily exploits and overworks. She is on her phone working 24/7, and expects you to do the same. Expect 3 a.m. phone calls and texts weekly, and forget about having any weekend time at all, ever. Employees are constantly gaslit and belittled. Regarding claims of a collaborative work environment and visibility into other departments: I have never worked at a place that was so siloed. Departments that should work together don’t. Any effort to align across departments is not supported. Any efforts of collaboration that actually do work out, the CEO ends up derailing. It doesn’t matter what your level of expertise is, where you are at in your career, how many years experience you have, etc., everyone at BB is treated the same way..like an overworked, underpaid intern pressured to work 24/7. Sadly, half of the employees working here are happy to do her bidding thinking either a: their careers are benefitting (many of the employees are quite young) or b: they are working for a forward-thinking, influential celebrity (they are absolutely not). I have worked for other large beauty companies before and have a pretty good frame of reference when it comes to industry standards. I am a hard worker always willing to go above and beyond, I take my career very seriously, and all of my comments here I am not making lightly. My best advice: stay as far away from this company as you possibly can. It is just not worth it.

Pros

A few coworkers were genuinely wonderful and supportive. Some products are quality and we used to receive them as free gratis. Work-from-home flexibility was a plus. You’ll bond quickly with others—mostly because everyone is trying to survive the same poor leadership.

Cons

Leadership is toxic, unstable, and completely disconnected from the reality of day-to-day operations. Nearly the entire company was laid off a week before Christmas, leaving employees blindsided and traumatized. Once new leadership took over, morale tanked and burnout became the norm. Employees were expected to juggle multiple roles without additional pay or support. Constant miscommunication and last-minute demands created a chaotic, high-stress environment. Mental and physical exhaustion became standard across the team. Psychological safety does not exist—this role gave 90% of employees lasting stress and anxiety.
