Pros

Some BCBAs are very nice and helpful, you will get the experience and supervision hours needed if you’re sitting for the BCBA exam.

Cons

The owners are very out of touch with the what actually goes on in the fields. They expect us to work 8 hours a day but we can realistically only get paid for the hours we are in the home and with parents that work abs kids that go to school we can’t realistically meet the 8 hours a day every day. They expect us to get all paperwork done but when we are in the home there are too many distractions and support that needs to be given to parents and behavior therapists to focus on paperwork solely.

Pros

I had a great Clinical Supervisor to whom I reported directly; she was very supportive and communicative. I also built good rapport with some of my clients and enjoyed the work for the most part. I gained experience working with children with disabilities.

Cons

I never once had in-person or virtual supervision from the BCBA (the one who is legally required to be supervising), who was very detached from clients and the day-to-day. I only ever received supervision and training from my clinical supervisor, who is not certified. With one client, I did not receive ANY supervision for over two months, as my supervisor was taken off the case and the BCBA did not reach out to offer any form of support. I often got the impression that the BCBA's at the company (who are also owners) prioritize caseload and insurance reimbursements over client progress. Training for the Behavior Technician role was also very meager and unstructured. I also was left with two of the most complex patients in my region (other staff refused to work with them), and I did not feel prepared or supported as a new BT.
