Pros

Leadership that is positive, encouraging, and ready to mentor; an atmosphere that is very collaborative; upholds the strongest journalistic ethics; remote work but opportunities to work with other team members if you're in market; extremely talented team; great pay

Cons

Like many publications, days can be long. It can be very difficult to strike work/life balance; very "chained to my laptop" feeling at times.

Pros

Genuinely good people across engineering and product. You're trusted to own problems end-to-end. Modern stack (Laravel, Livewire, Tailwind) and leadership actually invests in keeping it current rather than letting tech debt rot. Remote-friendly culture that respects async work.

Cons

Honestly nothing major worth mentioning. Like any company, there are occasional shifting priorities, but nothing that's gotten in the way of doing good work.

Pros

Leadership here is genuinely supportive and actually cares about you beyond just your output. They regularly share tips and resources around time management and work-life balance. You're given the space to find your own way of doing things without feeling micromanaged, and leadership truly feels like they're here to support you, not criticize you. Hard work gets noticed and rewarded, which makes a real difference in how motivated you feel day to day. Everyone on the production team (and in my market at least) shares the same mindset and looks out for each other. It's a collaborative environment where people actually want to see you succeed. Like any fast-paced job, there are busy seasons and slower stretches, but if you're proactive and know how to manage your time well, you'll thrive here. Working ahead goes a long way.

Cons

The pace can be intense and priorities shift quickly, so you have to stay flexible and organized. Since you're given a lot of autonomy, self-motivation and accountability are a must, this isn't the place for someone who needs heavy structure or hand-holding. Communication moves fast and a lot can be happening at once, so staying on top of things is really on you.
