Pros

BitPay has now instituted a permanent virtual office and work-from-home policy which should be a positive for work-life balance. I have always heard from many at BitPay that it has a lax environment (I can attest to this as well) which can be a plus.

Cons

There is a top down culture that has a negative and skeptical attitude towards the following: refactoring code, quality assurance, project management, product management, and SDLCs. I’ve witnessed the CEO yelling at an employee during a company-wide meeting. There are countless examples of department heads either being disrespectful to people in their department, or disrespectful and non-cooperative with each other. There is an unstated perfectionism that is communicated by how the executives interact with the company which seems to prevent others from owning their mistakes, failing fast, and learning from those mistakes moving forward. In short, despite being an interesting company in an exciting industry filled with fun and interesting people, I cannot recommend working at BitPay to anyone other than someone with an incredibly thick skin and a high-tolerance for a toxic environment.

Cons

Company is run poorly, terrible senior management, compensation far below market. They allow low performers to stick around indefinitely
