Pros

Varied work type day to day

Cons

Bullying culture - reported bullying of myself and others to HR and upper management. HR’s response was that I should just confront them myself despite the fact it was my manager I was making a complaint about. Incompetent HR department - failed to adequately discipline those bullying others and also failed to protect several employees employment rights. Unsupportive of those with families - maternity discrimination as well as unsupportive management Unrealistic workload expectations - staff frequently work well beyond their contracted hours and are required to carry out work that would not be achievable within their contracted hours. This is then rarely acknowledged by management. Advertise a flexible working style but do not then follow through - this is one of their main points on any job advertisement but then this is not put into practice. Failure to implement any kind of development plan for employees - frequently promised a development plan or a promotion pathway yet this never materialised in the years that I had been working there and numerous requests for one. Very poor communication - staff are frequently kept in the dark, promises are made without deadlines and frequently aren’t followed through leaving staff frustrated. Discriminatory practices - attempted to make illegal adjustments without consent and remove training due to maternity leave. Only resolved due to having a recording of upper management stating they were removing training due to maternity leave and we could review on my return. Knew they would lose at an employment tribunal and so reinstated the original training offered. Poor benefits and policies - legal minimum on a lot of their policies. They claim to align to the BlueLight forces they represent however this is not the case. Extremely high turnover of staff, several of them would have had cases for an employment tribunal but are so keen to see the back of the place they don’t bother. Several employees have sent emails to the board of directors and CEO to make them aware of the issues and receive no response or a generic “thanks for letting us know” email. Wouldn’t recommend this employer to anyone
